Restacking versus "Liking"
Or, even better, restacking with a Note!

My anima is not pleased. For some reason, it seems that many, if not most, of us are treating Substack as if it were just another social media platform. It isn’t.
Allow me to explain. When one “Likes” a post, that shows up on the author’s post but does nothing to extend the author’s reach. A restack, on the other hand, puts it in your feed meaning that all of your subscribers and/or followers have the opportunity to see what it is that you like. This makes a huge difference. It’s the third button over from the left; second from the right. The one furthest to the right allows one to share the post on other platforms like X, Facebook, BlueSky, and or LinkedIn. This can make a huge difference to the author. It takes just as much energy as liking a post to do these two “right” things versus the left one. Another option is to write a substantive comment on the content of the post. This might even result in a conversation.
I’ve had some good fortune in this area but it is the exception rather than the rule. It could be the rule. All it takes is a little awareness and action. This is a “Call to Action.”
I could beat the drum even louder, and I’ll be going about trying to be the change I want to see here, but the final call I’d like to make is the “Restack with Note” option. This does a lot to get your favorite authors out there on the Activity Feed of others.
So, let’s start using the tools we have at our fingertips. We are the Media, after all.
Onward!
Click a button. Any button…
(I cringe at likes on posts like this, so please don’t like it - particularly if that is all you do! I might just block those who are so unconscious.)

Beat that drum, Hal. I'm marching right behind you. <3
Thank you, Hal for always urging us to be the change we want to see! 🫠
