We Start With "Parvardigar"
Give it a minute...or several
This was served up from the pleroma just after I listened to “Heart to Hang Onto” from Ronnie Lane and Pete Townshend’s Rough Mix:
Johnny boy, he’s always propping up the bar
He’s sees life crystallized through his jar
He says he only lives for beer
But deep in his heart is a cry of fearGive me a heart to hang onto
Give me a soul that’s tailored new
Give me a heart to hang onto
A heart to hang ontoSally seems to get bigger everyday
She evens out in a contented way
A finger on the pulse of every guy
But deep in the night you can hear her cryGive me a heart to hang onto
Give me a life that’s tailored new
Give me a heart to hang onto
Oh please a heart to hang ontoGive me heart to hang onto
Give me a soul that’s tailored new
Give me a heart to hang ontoDanny, he wants to save for a new guitar
He’s going to learn to play but he won’t get far
He thinks it’s an easy going’ high
But his whole life is just another tryGive me a heart to hang onto
Give me a suit that’s tailored true
Give me a heart to hang onto
A heart to hang ontoI need a heart... to hang onto...

I have found a heart to hang onto. It saved my life. She did. I don’t spend enough time talking about her, my wife of these past 18+ years, Lynn Bush Gill. I’m so fortunate. Were it not for Lynn being in my life, I doubt that I’d be here now writing this. I was on my way out when I met her on May 3, 2007 at Beadazzled. I was so tired at the time of having first dates. I was 44 years old and living in a basement apartment with Catzandra who had taken charge of keeping me alive in 2004. This could easily become a tribute to her 19 years, but let me attempt to stay focused on Lynn.
It was just after one of our early dates when we were at an herb show somewhere in Maryland that I made the commitment, understanding that Lynn was allergic to all animals. Catzandra could go live with my parents, which she did, thankfully. I went to live with Lynn after our marriage on May 3, 2008 at the Tabard Inn. This was the best day of my life in so many ways.
My alcoholism has reared its heads a few times in the course of our marriage but has been arrested since September 11, 2015 now. Lynn, however, soon after our marriage began having health issues - first, auto-immune hepatitis. She likes to say that this was taking self-loathing to the cellular level. Just after getting off of Prednisone to treat that condition, she suffered a brain-stem stroke that deprived her of the use of her left side for life. That was on November 9, 2010. Ever after, we’ve been in a three-legged race through life.
All things tend to the greater good, I’m convinced. It’s enabled me to be grounded and focus on being the best husband I can be to this courageous woman. This brings me to another number from Rough Mix:
My baby wakes in the deep of the night
She doesn’t need it but she says it’s all right
My baby digs it, just a moment away
My baby gives it up every dayMy baby gives it, she gives it away
My baby gives it up every day
My baby, she just gives it awayWhen you’re alone in some city hotel
You can get company by ringing a bell
You might go pick up a girl on the street
But my baby gives it up totally freeMy baby’s counting won’t cause you alarm
My baby’s brother never break-a your arm
My baby ha, ha, I love herShe’s cheap
Ooh
Ooh-ooh yeah
Ooh-ooh
My babe, my babe, my baby
My babe, my babyYou better buy yourself a new pair of shoes
And walk for a lifetime on the page three news
You better buy yourself a ‘lectric guitar
You better play, there’s no other way
To beat the bluesI beat ‘em
My baby, my baby
My baby, my baby
My baby, my baby
My baby, my baby
My pretty babyMy baby, my baby
My baby, my baby
My baby, my baby
My baby, my baby
My baby, my baby, my babyShe gives it way
Every day
Every way
My baby just gives it away, my babyMy baby’s momma is a singular girl
She brought up her daughter and she brought her up well
I’m breathing no more ‘cause she took it away
My baby gives it up every dayMy baby gives it, she gives it away
My baby gives it up every day
My baby, my baby
My baby, my baby
My baby, my baby
My baby, my baby
My baby, my baby
How I love her, yeah, oohMy baby, my baby, she just gives it away, yeah
My baby, my baby, she just gives it away
My baby, my baby, gives it awayLet me tell you, my baby, she just gives it away
My baby, every day
My baby gives it up every day
My baby gives it, just gives it awaySource: LyricFind

I could go on and on about Lynn. Somehow, it seems like enough right now to leave this here.
