Regarding the world from my limited and distorted perspective, I see my dependence on others across the spectrum of the human race just to be here now, as I am. We need to trust each other to work cooperatively together. If we get to that point where my need for you and yours for me is evident to us both and that we see each other as people of good will, we can “capture lightning in a bottle”
We can achieve together what we cannot achieve separately. What I perceive is that trust is hard for people to sustain. We are a primate species and we are ruled by our emotions more than our intellect. In the short space of geological time in which our species has been here, we have evolved not so far as we might like to have ourselves believe.
In short, we have to overcome our fear of each other to be motivated by love and compassion as opposed to fear and resentment. I am working through these very issues as I write this and work toward making “Harrowings” a commodity worthy of its paid subscribers. I need your help. I need to trust your good will to put this post out there and to hopefully stimulate some conversation. I am hopeful.
From there, to get to a more compassionate, cooperative world building relationships one at a time, I believe we can redeem ourselves as a species and move the needle in a positive direction. It is perhaps well summed up by a speech made at the Golden Globes Award Ceremony.
We’re alive - we can turn this ship in the way we want to go. The question is - will we?
