Morning Dispatch from Washington, DC
Or another day in Chapel Perilous
As Day Dawns, I’m up early and reading Intelligent Nonsense’s “New Philosophy of the Modern United States of America:
As mentioned, this is just another day in Chapel Perilous which, it seems to me, we are all now navigating together. I think about this often as I move from dawn to dusk inhabiting the animal that bears the label “Harold Bledsoe Gill, III” and strive to both be a good ancestor and also to steward the legacy of my forbears, most particularly my late father.
It seems to me to be what I was born to do. I walk along and muse about what I see. I know that I know nothing but what seems to me to be true and it is likely that I am not seeing the big picture. On a planetary scale, we are all participating in a great work.
I sometimes move myself into that area - alchemy - and recognize that I am going through all its stages as I am awakening. We all are. I think we ought to be a bit more aware of the Great Work itself. We are all weaving history as it happens. I’d love to take you in many different directions now as I do this work.
For now, let’s look at this as a dispatch from Washington, DC at a time in history where everything appears to be teetering on the edge. The march I made on Sunday with the Pride of America Fife and Drum Corps is etched into my memory. All of the people lining the streets cheering us on are a big part of the world we are weaving. We need to take that energy and do something with it.
I am really at a loss though. I’ll go and take up my position at Daily Provisions shortly. From the host stand, mostly, I’ll take in the Passing Show. I’ll hope for the best while monitoring the flow of humanity and serving what I perceive to be the greater good. I’m hopeful even while perplexed by my species seeming inattention to the way in which we are all participants in what happens. It’s too easy to cast blame elsewhere. We are responsible.
I could go on and often do, but for now, let me just close with the hope that we will be the change we want to see in the world and recognize that every cent spent is a vote for the world that we are co-creating.
